Should be cold and rainy, agreed. Probably not terribly busy on Memorial day weekend. It is a pretty commercialized campground, I think the overflow area you’re mentioning is Beach 1, Beach 2, Beach 3, or Beach 4. I prefer much more forested area – what you’re looking at is very coastal and will be both colder and windier. You can also count on little to no privacy in those grounds. I MUCH MUCH MUCH prefer camping in the Lake Quinnalt area of Oly Nat’l. Make sure you drive North up 101 to Ruby Beach – don’t miss it – no camping facilities but a must-see/hike. Here’s my pics from last September at Lake Quinnalt, the Hoh Rain Forest, and Sol Duc Hotsprings area: http://www.smaert.com/campingnitz/ I returned from 7 days on the Olympic Peninsula… on September 11th. If you’re ever in the mood for some fancier accomodations – the Kalaloch Lodge is a lovely place to stay: http://www.visitkalaloch.com/ hth, have a great time, take lots of pics

I was there last year. Very crowded in late July. Just a mile or two south of the campground proper is an overflow area right on the beach that I like as well. Just a parking lot with gravel in places, but good access and view of the ocean. I suspect it will be cold and rainy. It was in July. Bob
