Road Trip Camping

Question:

I can’t recall if I dreamed it up or remember it, but possibly the national park sites "may" have day use dog kennels.  I thought I read of this in Glacier in Montana.  Another option would be to check local vets in the towns you’re visiting (get vet listings before you go), call them when you get into town and see if they have petsitters.  I’ve used them through my local vet. Hi All: My Girlfriend, two of my three dogs (labrador retrievers), and I are driving cross country from Phoenix to Long Island, NY in two weeks and are hoping to get some camping ideas. Were used to primitave camping, such as BLM and Nat’l Forests out west, no lights, no toilets, nobody with a generator 3 feet from the tent, etc… just pull off a forest road and camp out of the back of my pickup, and the dogs can move about without being a nuisance to anyone.  I know this is hard to find back east, so…. any thoughts on places? Our route is I-40 from Flagstaff, AZ to Chatanooga then around Huntsville/Scottsboro, AL to Wash DC and then NY. Returning, were going from NY to Cooperstown NY (Baseball HOF), Niagra Falls, Toronto, Sault Ste. Marie, U.P. of Michigan, Minneapolis, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Dillon MT, Salt Lake City, then back through Page into Phoenix. I’ll have a small (5×8) Uhaul Trailer on the return. On the way out, were looking for someplace between the TX/OK State line and Oklahoma City, then again in the Huntsboro/Scottsboro, AL areas (theres some store in Scottsboro my Girlfriend wants to go to).  On the return, we were looking for something between Toronto and Sault Ste. Marie, Probably closer the the Sault Ste. Marie side. Then onto the west side of Minneapolis, around Mt. Rushmore, something primative around Yellowstone, and maybe in the SLC area. Also if anyone knows of kennels in the Northern VA/DC area, Cooperstown, Niagra Falls, Mt. Rushmore, and Yellowstone?  I will not leave the kids alone in the truck due to the heat.
