Info on Ridgway State Park, CO?

Question:

My family and I will be camping in late July at Ridgway State Park in Colorado. We’ve never been there and were wondering what to expect in the way of weather, facilities, altitude problems, etc. Any advice/suggestions? Thanks. Carl

Response:

There are several camping areas at Ridgway State Park.  For the full scoop visit their website at www.dnr.state.co.us/parks/ridgway/camping.html Dutch Charlie is by the ranger station and visitor center above the dam.  The scenery is beautiful but that area does not have full hookups.  I was told that they only have electric, and a few water faucets for the whole area, and that you cannot connect to them except to fill your fresh water tank. Pa-Co-Chu-Puk With sites 188 through 283, Pa-Co-Chu-Puk lies just below the reservoir dam and each site features full individual utility hookups, including water, sewer and electricity.  The fee for these full-service deluxe campsites is $16 in addition to the parks pass.  You can make reservations on the internet. It was beautiful when we stayed there in May and  a herd of deer wandered through the campground every evening and every morning. I hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> My family and I will be camping in late July at Ridgway State Park in > Colorado.
