romping in the springtime

Mary, 3 of my grandkids live in Livermore. Are you in that area, or were you just visiting?
Response:
I am with you — Spring is my favorite time of the year. All the crocus are finally up and the noses of other bulbs are poking their heads through the ground. Of course, we are suppose to get snow tomorrow…. Nice pictures, BTW. Nice pictures! Spring is well underway for you. I know what you mean about the outdoors, I’m the same way. I’m lucky the Arava kicked in to let me do some hiking last Sept. it’s trying to fail me now, but I’ll be damned if it’s gonna get away with that before we go camping and hiking this summer! Mary, we just spent a week in Stockton and were so happy to see the sun and all the spring flowers blooming everywhere. It was also nice to come home to my hyacinths all in bloom and my clematis beginning to inch up the trellis. I am so ready for summer!! Thanks for the pics., Kelly C.;o)

I live in Fremont, about 20 miles west and slightly south of Livermore. Sunol Regional Wilderness is between Livermore and me. (I’ve lived in the area since ‘75, except for some forays here and there, and my significant other grew up in Livermore.) – Mary MacT http://www.alamedacreek.net

Mary, I’m going to have to insist that you go back and take those pictures. I think DJ will look lovely in a field of poppies. I can’t wait for the redbuds and dogwoods to start blooming here. I know where Fremont is. Mary’s son, DIL and granddaughter attended church there while living in San Leandro. Mary and I flew up last Easter for the granddaughter’s Baptism, then 3 weeks later visited Mission San Jose in Fremont while on our honeymoon.

I double-dosed my Celebrex this morning, which my doctor says I can do on very bad days. I wanted to be able to do a little hiking. I still can’t do much, but I got about a mile in today, some of it up a small hill. It’s spring, you see. For me, the outdoors is practically church, it’s where my spiritual self is centered. And Northern California is spectacular. I spent the morning running around (to the best of my gimpy ability) at Sunol Regional Wilderness, south of Livermore. I didn’t get pictures of the redbud or copious poppies. The rest are here. Oh, Mary, I do so envy you for that scenery. I remember being in California and seeing the fields of lupine on the hills. I was living in LA, Lomita, Lawndale, and Torrance at various times. My husband was born near Hawthorne and was the son of a native Los Angeleno. He died 8-1/2 years ago and we had been married 35-1/4 years. We were in Los Angeles when it was headline news when you could see Mount Baldy, I think it was. The smog was that bad. We used to take the coastal route north – it was so beautiful. There was one time when a cattle truck overturned on the main interchange in downtown Los Angeles. The news had such fun watching the CHIPS rounding up the cattle as they romped up and down the on and off ramps!
