A dollar store or Walmart. Get one that uses tea lights. But don’t use it in your tent.

Response:

Most camping supply places, to include REI have an candle type "lantern" that holds the candle, has a glass lens that keeps the wind out and has a chain/"S" hook arrangement for hanging.  I have had mine for about 15 years. — Steve

It sounds like you are referring to a candle lantern ("spring loaded contraption").  If you broke it the first time out maybe you had a defective one or one of the cheap knock-offs.  I’ve had my UCO candle lantern for well over 10 years and never had a problem with it. There are TONS of candle holders out there.  I don’t know where you are located, but the TJ MAXX chain of stores frequently has assorted types of tealight style lanterns and some that hold larger candles.  A friendly warning though, some of the lanterns are really for show and I wouldn’t recommend them for outdoor use, especally the silly ones with pillars or tops made of wood! A final thought. If you consider a candle lantern complicated maybe you should stick to flashlights and not play with fire. Dutch "I think therefore I am…usually in a lot of trouble."

I also have a UCO spring loaded candle holder and am very happy with it. Did you buy another brand or get a bad one? Try www.rei.com. I bought a candle holder for camping and a bunch of camping candles. The candle holder was a complicated spring loaded contraption that broke the first time I tried to replace the candle. Is there a simple candle holder I can get? Just something that blocks the wind and has a hook for hanging? Thanks! Chuck.
