Zero-Gravity chair-inexpensive option
Question:
>Char, isn’t the trundle bed where our forefathers put the babies….it >slipped under the regular bed then at bedtime it was pulled out for the >baby or little kid slept in it? donnah
Yes, although there are modern versions that turn a single bed into a double bed. Char "Remember, I’m pulling for ya’. We’re all in this together." Red Green
Response:
I have no comment on the chairs themselves, as I feel such things are very individual. However, I DO suggest waiting until after July 4 or so to place an order. Traditionally patio furniture (or camping or lawn furniture) is seasonal and the season ends with a gigantic bang on July 4. After that, you may well find huge sales with large price reductions. I know, you’re not thinking of these chairs as patio furniture, but if there are some that qualify as that kind of classification, you may get a pleasant surprise in the price with a little strategy. (I’ve only been in the furniture business for my whole life
) Best regards,

That’s it: LaFuma! Those are what I have. They were sold as lawn chairs at Home Depot and Rona. But I agree, they are not at all like the standard lawn chairs; they are stable and well built. They can be locked at any position, but most of the time the locking isn’t needed ’cause they are so well balanced. Margo – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I understand. Gave my wife the Lafuma for mothers day a year ago. I sat in it once and told her I was going down stairs and order my fathers day gift. Like no other chair I have ever used they support your whole body. Always had back wile out camping. That is a thing of the past ( the backache ). Paul T
I don’t remember who asked me about this chair, but I had told her that my $200 brand name chair felt great, and was an inexpensive option to the better back chairs which were over a grand. (and are still on my wish list) well, I had been searching the web under ‘zero-gravity’, and today I discovered that it its also called just a plain old ‘folding recliner’, and many different brands exist as camping, sporting goods or backyard folding chairs. and they are as little as $59.00. boy was I ripped off. but here’s the google search anyway, just to make it one click away here. happy shopping. http://www.google.com/search?q=folding+recliner

I understand. Maybe you missed the difference in what we said — I said just a folding *lawn* chair — you said a folding *lounge* chair. From what I have seen they are different – very different. The links in Google that I first clicked on were for *lawn* chairs. The pictures of the LaFuma chair do not look like *lawn* chairs to me. The one at the Sports Authority did. That is why I asked what I did. A folding recliner that is a *lawn* chair would not be any of those things — they are not stable at the very least.

it *is* a folding lounge chair, but the angle of the recline is considered healthier and more comfortable for people with certain medical problems. although I don’t think that it should cost so much because it’s not a piece of furniture, at the time I bought I was willing to pay the price in order to get the back relief. These recliner deck chairs are great. They have a legg support whose angle changes as you tilt back (unlike a Lazy-Boy type for exampl) so that the weight of your legs do not push against your hips, and past a certain angle, the weight of your torso does not rest on your lower vertebrae. Very comfortable I got the first one about 4 years ago and it is in great shape. Got 2 more to go with it and would like a fourth ’cause everybody wants to sit in them. They are very light and compact when folded so we cart them between the cottage and home all the time, or take a couple with us to outdoor events. Margo (no, I do not sell them nor have any other financial interest in them) Except that I thought $200 was a bit much to pay for a "lawnchair". I’m a believer now though! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I don’t remember who asked me about this chair, but I had told her that my > $200 brand name chair felt great, and was an inexpensive option to the > better back chairs which were over a grand. the zero gravity chair is not the same as the garden variety lounge chair. although the folding model is sold as one. it is different design, based on the biomechanical concept of ’neutral spine posture", developed for NASA. the angle of the chair allows the body to be in a position with the least possible stress on the musculoskeletal system. I have back and neck pain and muscle fatigue, and sitting in regular chairs often makes it worse. while I would love to have a contoured, massaging version, I still find that the basic model is one of the best ‘investments’ I have made in my never-ending search for effective pain management.

Margo (no, I do not sell them nor have any other financial interest in them) Except that I thought $200 was a bit much to pay for a "lawnchair". the zero gravity chair is not the same as the garden variety lounge chair. although the folding model is sold as one. it is different design, based on the biomechanical concept of ’neutral spine posture", developed for NASA. the angle of the chair allows the body to be in a position with the least possible stress on the musculoskeletal system. I have back and neck pain and muscle fatigue, and sitting in regular chairs often makes it worse. while I would love to have a contoured, massaging version, I still find that the basic model is one of the best ‘investments’ I have made in my never-ending search for effective pain management.
